According to KABC-TV, the 13-year-old dog, Cesar, fell into a hole that measured 15 feet deep and 3 feet wide at around 7 p.m. PDT Tuesday.

A Pasadena search and rescue team arrived at the construction site to assist, according to KABC. They hooked up ropes and pulleys to lower one team member into the hole.

“The canine was extricated in roughly 13 minutes and uninjured,” the Pasadena Fire Department tweeted.

Cesar’s owner, Mary, told KABC that they live next to the construction site and the dog had wandered onto the site after finding a hole in the fencing.

According to The Associated Press, Mary was alerted by her other dog who was barking. Cesar responded and she soon realized he was no longer in the yard.

Cesar was rescued but was covered in dirt and dust, according to KABC. He was reunited with his owners at the scene.

KTLA-TV reported that multiple agencies assisted in the rescue including crews from the Arcadia, South Pasadena and Glendale fire departments.
