LOS ANGELES — Hollywood writer and producer Eric Weinberg was arrested by Los Angeles police on Tuesday after prosecutors filed 18 sexual abuse and assault charges against him.
The former “Scrubs” co-executive producer was arrested after the Los Angeles County district attorney filed charges of rape, sexual battery, false imprisonment, assault by means to cause great bodily harm, and six counts of forcible penetration by a foreign object, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Weinberg, 62, was released after posting $5 million bail late Tuesday, according to KTTV.

Weinberg was first arrested on July 14 on charges of “sexual assaults including rape’' that allegedly occurred between 2012 and 2019, KABC-TV reported.
More than half a dozen women have accused Weinberg of luring them to his home, according to the Times.
In a report filed in July, the Los Angeles Police Department alleged that Weinberg would approach the women, who were in their 20s and 30s, and tell them he was a photographer. Weinberg then would tell the women he could arrange photo shoots with him at his home, the police report stated.
Once the women came to Weinberg’s home, he allegedly restrained and sexually assaulted them, according to police interviews and records obtained by the Times in July.
After his arrest in July, Weinberg was released after posting $3.2 million bail, KTTV reported.
Micha Star Liberty, a civil rights attorney who is representing some of the women, said in a statement that she was “grateful that the District Attorney has acted in furtherance of accountability,” the Times reported.
“The significant number of victims and the horrific impact inflicted upon those women will not go unremediated,” Liberty said. “We will not rest until there is justice.”
Lawyers for Weinberg did not respond to a request for comment, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In a previous statement, Weinberg’s divorce attorney Karen Silver called the allegations “strategically placed criminal allegations” stemming from “a heavily litigated and acrimonious custody dispute.”
“These claims have previously been investigated and reviewed by both law enforcement and the Los Angeles family court and the results have continued to unveil a myriad of evidence, documentation and expert analysis that wholly undermine the narrative now being promulgated,” Silver previously told The Hollywood Reporter. “Though Mr. Weinberg himself is precluded from commenting on any aspect of this litigation due to court orders, family law rules and in the best interests of his minor children, he will continue through counsel to cooperate in all aspects of this investigation and, if necessary, will address these allegations in the only forum that should matter — a public courtroom.”
Previously, police presented a pair of rape investigations against Weinberg to the county district attorney, the Times reported. The office declined to prosecute Weinberg for two alleged incidents in 2014, citing a lack of evidence, according to the newspaper.
Weinberg was an executive producer for 92 episodes of “Scrubs” from 2001 to 2007, the newspaper reported. He also was a writer for 11 episodes, according to IMDb.com. Weinberg also served as a producer for “Veronica’s Closet,” “Anger Management,” “Death Valley” and “Men at Work,” according to the website.
He was nominated for five Emmy Awards -- for “Scrubs” as co-producer in 2005 and 2006, and in the writing category for “Politically Correct With Bill Maher” in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
