WHISPERING PINES, AZ — Months after the murder of a man and woman in Gila County, Arizona, officials say they have arrested their son.
The Gila County Sheriff’s Office said deputies on Tuesday arrested Hunter Stanfield, 19, in connection to the murder of his parents, according to KPNX.
In a news release, the sheriff’s office said that on Oct. 27, 2022, just before 11 a.m., dispatch received a call about two people who were found dead in their house in the Whispering Pines subdivision in Arizona. Whispering Pines is located north of Payson.
Deputies say a man and a woman were found inside the side of the house with multiple gunshot wounds, according to KTVK.
The two people found in the house were later identified as Chase J. Stanfield, 39, and Gail M. Stanfield, 50, according to the sheriff’s office.
Hunter Stanfield is facing two first-degree murder charges, KTVK reported.
“I am thankful to the Detectives that have worked this case non-stop to follow all leads, collect and evaluate all evidence. This was a time-consuming investigation and the detective’s dedication to the community and justice should be commended,” said Gila County Sheriff J. Adam Shepherd.
No information has been released about what led up to the deadly shooting or a possible motive.
