No ACCPD cuts in Athens-Clarke Co budget

Two Commissioners wanted to defund

The budget approved last week by the Athens-Clarke County Commission leaves out a proposal by two Commissioners—Tim Denson and Mariah Parker—to cut funding for the Athens-Clarke County Police Department by 50 percent over the next ten years. Denson and Parker wants $50,000 for a committee to study the police defunding plan.

Tonight’s Madison County Commission meeting is set for 6 o’clock in Danielsville.

Hart County Commissioners approve a referendum to put liquor-by-the-drink on the ballot in November: Commissioners now await word from the Elections Supervisor in Hartwell to find out if there is time to have the question put before Hart County voters in an election that is now 127 days away.
