Dylan Scott

Country singer and songwriter Dylan Scott puts his own stamp on the bro-country-pop sound with a charm reminiscent of Luke Bryan and a dash of Sam Hunt's R&B-inspired rhythms. Scott's radio hits show off his strong, rough-around-the-edges vocal style, a personality that mixes swagger with a romantic undercurrent, and songs that sing the praises of women and trucks while making room for a thoughtful side. All this was evident on his 2016 debut album, Dylan Scott, which turned into a hit in 2017 thanks to a pair of high-charting singles, "My Girl" and "Hooked." Later, he paid tribute to the late Keith Whitley on the 2019 EP An Old Memory, then landed another Billboard Country Airplay Top Ten with "Nobody" in 2020. "New Truck" topped the same chart in 2021, setting up the release of his second album, 2022's Livin' My Best Life and the 2024 deluxe version Livin' My Best Life (Still). Scott's third album, 2025's Easy Does It, was a glossy mix of love songs and honky tonk anthems.

Born in Bastrop, Louisiana, on October 22, 1990, Dylan Scott was the son of Scotty Robinson, who played guitar for Freddy Fender, among other country singers. Dylan learned how to play music as a child, and once he entered his late teens he decided to pursue it professionally. At the age of 17, he recorded a four-song demo with songwriter/producer Charlie Craig, and that tape brought him to the attention of Curb Records. Scott signed with the label prior to his 19th birthday and released his debut single, "Makin' This Boy Go Crazy," in 2013. After making its way to 54 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, it anchored a self-titled 2014 EP. "Lay It on Me" appeared at the end of the year, but it was Scott's next hit, "Crazy Over Me," that made the Billboard Country Top 40 in 2015.

His eponymous full-length debut arrived in August 2016, and after its release, "My Girl" began its slow climb to the top of the Billboard Country Airplay chart in the summer of 2017. Once it reached that peak, "Hooked" was readied as Scott's next single in August 2017; it reached number two on the Country Airplay chart. An EP entitled Merry Christmas arrived during the holiday season of 2017. Scott released the Stripped EP in October 2018, which featured pared-down, largely acoustic renditions of songs from his debut album. Hot on its heels came "Nothing to Do Town," the first single from sessions for his second album. The song reached number 43 on Billboard's Country Airplay and anchored the EP of the same name, which arrived in April 2019. A few months later, Scott delivered An Old Memory, an EP of covers of songs by Keith Whitley. Later that same year, Scott gave his fans a musical gift with Merry Christmas, his first holiday album.

In 2021, he delivered the single "Nobody," which rose to number two on the country songs chart in June and was certified gold. Scott scored another hit that August with the song "New Truck," which again reached the Billboard Country Airplay Top Ten. The track anchored his second full-length album, Livin' My Best Life, which arrived in August 2022. While it didn't perform quite as well as his debut, the record still reached number 12 on the Country Albums chart and cracked Billboard's Hot 100. He also set out on his first headlining tour in February 2022. "This Town's Been Good to Us," an ode to his Louisiana hometown, appeared in 2023. The song was included on a deluxe version of Scott's sophomore album, Livin' My Best Life (Still), which arrived in March 2024 with more added tracks, including "I'll Be a Bartender" and the Top 40 Hot Country songs "What He'll Never Have" and "Boys Back Home" (with Dylan Marlowe).

In 2024, Scott landed another hit with "This Town's Been Good to Us," which peaked at Number 17 on the Country Songs chart, and went all the way to number one on the Country Airplay charts. In 2025, he scored again with "What He'll Never Have," which topped out at number 29 on the Country Songs survey. The two songs would appear on Scott's third full-length album, Easy Does It, which was released by Curb in May 2025. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine & Mark Deming
