Get ready for a rare celestial show! Learn how to spot the 2026 Perseid meteor shower peak and the 6 planet alignment from North Georgia and Metro Atlanta.

August 11 - 12

• Between 5:30 - 6:15 a.m. the “planet parade” will begin with a thin crescent moon. You can see Mars, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune before dawn. You’ll be able to see Mars and Saturn with your naked eye, but to see Uranus and Neptune you’ll need binoculars or a telescope.

August 12

• Between 5:30 - 6:15 a.m. all 6 planets will be aligned. You’ll be able to see Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Uranus, Saturn and Neptune all lined up pre-dawn. On this day you’ll be able to see Mars, Saturn, Mercury and Jupiter with the naked eye and use a telescope or binoculars to see Uranus and Neptune.

August 12 - 13

• Between 1:00 - 5:00 a.m. the Perseid Meteor Shower will take place. Shooting between 50 - 90 stars per hour. If you live close to Fort Yargo or Lake Lanier you’ll be able to get really clear view of the meteor shower because it’s a little darker near these areas.

August 27 - 28

• Between 11:30 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. you can see a partial lunar eclipse. It’ll peak at 12:12 a.m. on August 28th changing colors to a deep red. You’ll be able to see this with your naked eye depending on your location and cloud coverage that day.
