Ed Sheeran Says He ‘Would Love to Transition Into Country’

37th Annual Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony - Show Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic

Ed Sheeran considers himself a country music fan. He has lived in Nashville for two lengthy periods in 2013 and 2018 and found himself inspired by country music. However, he has Taylor Swift to thank for his love of the genre.

“I’d never really listened to country music as a kid growing up. It was only being on Taylor’s Red tour and living in Nashville and her basically introducing me to that side of it.” Sheeran told Billboard. He is even interested in transitioning into country music adding, “There’s a radio station in England called CountryLine Radio that me and my wife have on all day, every day in the kitchen. I talk about this to my wife all the time. I would love to transition into country. I love the culture of it, I just love the songwriting. It’s just like brilliant songs.”

Sheeran is set to perform tonight (May 11) at the ACM Awards in Frisco, Texas.
