It did not take long for the University of Georgia to get National Signing Day rolling this morning, as it received some very coveted news from the nation's No. 1 ranked athlete Mecole Hardman.
Hardman chose the Bulldogs over rival SEC schools Tennessee and Alabama during a ceremony at his high school in Elberton, Ga.
The recruitment of Hardman was one that was at times hard to figure out, as he consistently named Alabama his leader, despite most experts predicting he would land in Athens. He recently took an official visit to Ohio State, which he praised afterwards.
But in the end, the relationships he built with other fellow 5-star UGA commits like as quarterback Jacob Eason and tight end Isaac Nautaproved enough to lure him to Athens.
Hardman can play on both offense and defense, and it is not yet known how UGA will utilize the athlete. During high school all-star games he predominately played at wide receiver, but many experts believe he can be a shutdown corner on the defensive side of the ball if his sole focus is turned that way.
