Shedeur Sanders gets a prank call during NFL draft from Falcons’ Defensive Coordinator’s son

Shedeur Sanders received a prank call during the 2025 NFL Draft, and the incident is currently under investigation by the NFL.

The 23-year-old quarterback was projected to be a first round pick but was dropped to No 144, before finally being drafted to the Cleveland Browns.

During day two of the NFL draft, a video went viral showing Sanders receiving a phone call that was specifically being used to find out his draft pick.

“It’s been a long wait, man,” the prank caller was heard saying in the video. “We’re going to take you with our next pick, man, but you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer, man. Sorry about that.”

Sunday afternoon, the identity of one of the pranksters was confirmed to be the Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator’s 21 year old son, Jax Ulbrich. He was part of a prank that told Sanders he was being drafted by the New Orleans Saints.

The Falcons say Jeff Ulbrich was not aware of what his son was planning. “The Atlanta Falcons do not condone this behavior and send our sincere apologies to Shedeur Sanders and his family,” the statement said.

Jax Ulbrich issued a statement of his own apologizing to Sanders, calling his actions “completely inexcusable, embarrassing and shameful.”
