Kenny Chesney says performing at the Super Bowl is “kiss of death”

Kenny Chesney has been a country music superstar for nearly 30 years, selling out stadiums across the country, but he has yet to be the halftime performer of the Super Bowl. In a recent interview with TC & Dina B. on WKIS-FM, Kenny was asked if would ever be interested in performing at the event.

“I’m not saying that if I was asked to do the Super Bowl, that I would say no. I would probably say yes. But I feel like it’s the KISS OF DEATH.”

Kenny also referenced Bruce Springsteen’s 2009 halftime performance saying that he was great, but even Springsteen got slammed by critics.

“If I’ve got the choice to have all that stress leading up to it, or sit in a suite with my dad and have a beer . . . I’m probably going to do that.”

Country music has not been represented at the Super Bowl halftime show since 2003 (Shania Twain), but Kenny Chesney should be on the top of the list of artist the NFL calls if they decide to bring country music back to the halftime show.
