It’s National Chili Cheese Dog Day and here’s 6 unique ways to eat a chili cheese dog today:
- Crispy Chili Cheese Dog Egg Rolls:
- Prep time: 15 mins | Cook time: 10 mins | Makes: 8 egg rolls
- Ingredients: 8 egg roll wrappers, 4 hot dogs sliced into thin coins, 1 cup thick no bean beef chili warmed, 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded, 1 egg beaten for egg wash, cooking spray or oil for frying
- Instructions:
- Lay the egg roll wrapper flat like a diamond on a cutting board
- Place 1 - 2 tbsp of shredded cheese in the center. Top with 1 tbsp of chili and a layer of hotdog coins
- Fold the bottom corner over the filling, tuck the sides and brush the top corner with egg wash and roll tightly into a log
- Air Fryer: spray lightly with oil and cook at 390°F for 8 - 10 minutes and flipping half way
- Pan Fry: heat a 1/2 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry for 2 - 3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Sweet Hawaiian Roll Chili Dog Sliders
- Prep time: 10 mins | Cook time: 18 mins | Makes: 12 sliders
- Ingredients: 1 pack (12 count) of Hawaiian Sweet Rolls, 6 hot dogs sliced horizontally and then vertically into quarters, 1.5 cups beef chili, 1.5 cups of shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese of your choice), 1/4 cup finely diced onion, 3 tbsp melted butter and 1/2 tsp garlic powder (to make garlic butter), 9X13 baking dish
- Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Slice the entire block of rolls in half and place the bottom half into a 9X13 baking dish
- Layer the sliced hot dog quarters evenly over the bottom bread
- Spoon warm chili over the hot dogs, then sprinkle diced onions and shredded cheese across the top
- Place the top buns on. Take the butter garlic mixture and brush or spoon drizzle it generously over the top of the buns
- Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 5 - 8 minutes until the buns are golden brown.
- Crescent Wrapped Chili Cheese Dog Casserole
- Prep time: 12 mins | Cook time: 25 mins | Makes: 8 servings
- Ingredients: 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough, 8 full sized hot dogs, 4 slices of cheddar cheese halved, 1 can (15 oz) beef chili, 1.5 cups shredded mexi-cheese blend, Yellow Mustard and chopped green onion for garnish
- Instruction:
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray a 9X13 baking dish with non stick spray
- Wrap half a slice of cheddar cheese around each hotdog, then wrap tightly in a triangle of crescent dough
- Pour the chili into the bottom of the baking dish, spreading it into an even layer
- Arrange the crescent wrapped hot dogs on top of the chili bed
- sprinkle shredded mexi-cheese around and over the hot dogs.
- Bake 20 - 25 minutes until the crescent rolls are golden brown and cooked through

- Chili Dog Stuffed Crust Pizza
- Prep time: 15 mins | Cook time: 18 mins | Makes: 4–6 servings
- Ingredients: 1 tube refrigerated pizza dough or homemade dough, 4 hot dogs for the crust, 1 cup of beef chili (for both the crust and pizza sauce), 1.5 cups mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend, 1 jar of pizza sauce, 1/4 cup diced red onion, optional 1/4 cup of pickled jalapeño slices
- Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Roll pizza dough onto a round pizza pan or parchment lined baking sheet
- Place hot dogs along the outer edges of the dough. Sprinkle little bits of chili on the hot dog. Fold the outer dough edge over to fully cover the hot dog and chili and pinch tightly to seal
- Mix the remaining chili with some of pizza sauce. Spread the chili pizza sauce evenly over the center of the dough.

- Ingredients: 1 box (16 oz) frozen corn dog nuggets, 1.5 cups thick warm beef chili with beans, 1 cup warm liquid queso/nacho cheese, 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded, diced onions, diced tomatoes, 1 bag of Fritos, sour cream

- Air fry corn dog nuggets at 400°F for 8 - 10 minutes or until extra crispy and firm
