Colorado man accused of stealing $1 million worth of vehicles

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A Colorado man is accused of stealing $1 million worth of high-priced vehicles across the state, authorities said.

Kyle William Daugherty, 29, of Colorado Springs, was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly tried to buy a new Porsche, valued at more than $100,000, with a forged check, The Gazette of Colorado Springs reported.

According to police, Daugherty arrived at the Porsche dealership driving a 2021 Aston Martin, KKTV reported. Employees called police, who verified the check was forged. Upon further investigation, police discovered that Daugherty was wanted on several felony warrants across Colorado, the television station reported.

According to court records, Daugherty was wanted on warrants for identity theft in Broomfield County and in Greenwood Village, and on a warrant for motor vehicle theft in Littleton, KDVR reported.

According to an arrest report, Daugherty admitted to stealing three high-end vehicles from the Colorado Springs area and the Aston Martin he drove to the Porsche dealership, The Gazette reported.

Some of the vehicles Daugherty admitted stealing have yet to be recovered, but police said he had the keys to all the vehicles, the newspaper reported.

Daugherty’s next ride was to the El Paso County Jail, KKTV reported.
